Working with our Chief Technician & Technician, to support the technical delivery of performances & events in venues across East Lothian including Haddington Corn Exchange & Loretto Theatre, Musselburgh.

Brunton Theatre Trust are looking to welcome 2 new Technicians to join on an as and when needed basis. Working alongside our FT Chief Technician & Technician, they will support the technical delivery of a range of performances & events in venues across East Lothian, including Haddington Corn Exchange & Loretto Theatre, Musselburgh.

This is an opportunity to work on a diverse performance programme ranging from theatre to dance to music. The programme varies throughout the year and a range of dates will be offered each month for the Technicians to accept in line with their own availability.

MAIN DUTIES:

  • Deliver high quality technical services to achieve targets and customer satisfaction, ensuring that operational requirements are met.
  • Test & operate lighting/sound equipment & systems.
  • Ensure that equipment & systems are operated correctly and safely.
  • Assist with the maintenance and servicing programmes.
  • Assist in the recording and reporting of all items of stock & marking all new equipment.
  • Liaise with visiting companies & local amateur groups regarding technical requirements, as required.
  • Operate all lighting, sound, flying & other systems, as required.
  • Source sound effects & prepare sound tapes, as required.
  • Attend fit-ups, technical & dress rehearsals, get-ins / get-outs, as required.
  • Operate sound & lighting equipment & systems during performances.
  • Rig & focus lighting, as required.
  • Assist in the management of procedures relating to the health & safety of staff, customer & visitors to the venues under the Brunton Theatre Trust umbrella, in accordance with the council’s Health & Safety Policy and legislative requirements.
  • Attend regular programming & production meetings, as necessary.
  • Promote a positive image of the Brunton Theatre Trust by providing excellent Customer Care.
  • Liaise with customers & suppliers, dealing with any enquiries/complaints, with referral to line manager, where appropriate.
  • Any other appropriate duties, as requested by Management, commensurate with the grade for the post.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of SVQ1/Standard Grade General level English/Maths or Nat4 English/Maths or Literacy/Numeracy or Intermediate 1 Communication/Numeracy and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills & competencies gained through experience.
  • Training in computerised lighting & sound flying systems

£16.14-£17.24 per hour
