We’re seeking an experienced and passionate Regional Choir Director to establish our brand new East Lothian Regional Choir from the ground up.

This is a unique opportunity to shape a vibrant musical community from day one, building on over 20 years of established singing activity in the area. You’ll lead a talented team of music staff and work with enthusiastic young singers, supported by passionate local partners and strong backing from the local authority.
What you’ll do:
- Direct weekly Thursday evening rehearsals using NYCOS’s renowned Kodály-based methodology
- Lead and inspire a team of singing and musicianship staff
- Choose exciting, age-appropriate repertoire and conduct showcase concerts
- Audition new members and build the choir’s community presence
- Collaborate closely with the Regional Choir Coordinator for smooth operations
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience in choral directing, preferably with children and young people
- Knowledge of the Kodály approach to musicianship
- Strong leadership skills and team management experience
- Passion for musical and social development of young people
- Commitment to NYCOS’s mission of promoting choral singing in Scotland
Hours:
Thursday evenings, up to 90 minutes per week for 26 weeks during term time, plus concerts
Salary:
£37 per hour plus additional responsibility payment
Start Date:
September 2025
