NYCOS is seeking a talented accompanist for the Midlothian Regional Choir. You’ll provide essential piano accompaniment during weekly rehearsals and performances, supporting our young singers aged 7-18 as they explore an eclectic mix of music from contemporary Scottish composers and from around the world.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to young people’s musical development in a supportive, professional environment. You’ll work alongside our experienced Regional Choir Director and Music Staff team, helping to create inspiring rehearsals and memorable concert performances.

Key responsibilities:

Accompany weekly choir rehearsals
Play for summer and winter concerts and additional events
Support musical development through high-quality accompaniment
Work collaboratively with the Regional Choir Director and Music Staff team
Adapt accompaniment style to suit different musical genres and age groups

What we’re looking for:

Highly skilled pianist with excellent sight-reading abilities
Experience in accompanying, preferably with young people
Musical sensitivity and responsiveness to conductor’s direction
Enthusiasm for NYCOS’ mission to promote choral singing in Scotland
Reliability and flexibility for rehearsals and performances

START DATE
September 2025

HOURS
Up to 3 hours per week for 26 rehearsals during term time.
Winter and Summer concerts and other performances as required.

SALARY
£37 per hour
