An award‑winning refugee‑assisting creative charity is seeking an experienced sessional sewing tutor to support the delivery of our sewing‑machine skills workshops. These sessions focus on collaborative making, professional practice and zero‑waste textile design.

We’re looking for someone who is organised, empathetic, adaptable, and confident working, when required, in a busy, collaborative environment alongside our existing freelance sewing tutor team. Workshops typically involve 30–40 participants, many of whom are English‑language learners, so clear communication and a calm, supportive manner are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of sewing‑machine workshops in a large group setting
  • Lead participants through our structured video and practical tutorial, helping them complete a pre‑cut upcycled project
  • Maintain a welcoming, inclusive, trauma‑aware learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with our team to ensure smooth workshop flow
  • Provide practical, hands‑on support to learners with varying skill levels

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong sewing‑machine skills and practical textile knowledge
  • Experience teaching or supporting community groups or creative learning
  • Ability to manage and support large groups.
  • Clear, patient communication with English‑language learners
  • Organised, adaptable, empathetic, and confident in collaborative settings

Desirable Skills

  • Zero‑waste textile design
  • Experience delivering or assisting large creative sewing workshops
  • Understanding of inclusive, trauma‑aware community practice

If you’re passionate about sustainability, supporting refugees and asylum seekers, inclusive creative practice, textiles, and social impact, we’d love to hear from you.
