We’re seeking a pro-active cultural professional with demonstrable experience across arts management to join us as a part-time freelance General Manager to cover maternity leave over 9 months.

Tricky Hat Productions is a multimedia performance company based in Glasgow. Our work is socially engaged and uses a participatory approach – our professional team of artists collaborate with a large number of participants from all walks of lives, lived experiences and backgrounds; using performance, film, music and movement to explore their real life stories, hopes and dreams. From this process, we create live performances, films, sound walks and digital installations across Scotland and internationally.

Offer
– 3 days a week (this will be flexible at different times of year)
– Freelance fee of £23,400 (based on a daily rate of £200)
– 117 days in total across 9 months (April 2025 – December 2025) with possibility of extension.
– Mix of office working in CCA, remote working and occasionally on-site during projects. Some evening and weekend working expected.

We’re looking for a highly organised individual, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, experience in financial processes including budget management, proficiency in IT systems, who is solution focused with a strong working knowledge of the arts sector.

The General Manager is expected to:

  1. Plan and organise logistics related to participants and events.
  2. Develop new projects and initiatives in consultation with key stakeholders.
  3. Research funding opportunities to support new projects.
  4. Complete funding applications.
  5. Liaise with partner organisations, Tricky Hat artists and Producers.
  6. Act as press liaison and public relations.
  7. Create copy for marketing, social media posts and website updates.
  8. Liaise with marketing designers and photographers.
  9. Implement strategic vision following Tricky Hat Productions’ business plan.
  10. Take responsibility for operational and office management issues such as venue accessibility, health and safety.
  11. Implement and maintain office and information systems including bookkeeping, filing and logs.
  12. Administrate financial processes including processing invoices, petty cash, manage budgets and liaise with accountants and treasurer regarding annual accounts and returns.
  13. Write contracts and letters of agreement for Freelancers.
  14. Undertake project evaluation and preparation of reports as required.
  15. Organise and coordinate training and CPD opportunities for the wider team.
  16. Attend Board meetings.
