Freelance event staff for comic festival

A paid position as freelance staff at TAGS Festival, Edinburgh's independent comic and TTRPG fair.
TAGS Festival is a comic, tabletop roleplaying game, and small press fair taking place at Out of the Blue Drill Hall on Saturday 17th of October 2026. We focus on self-published and independent creators selling their collaborative or visual storytelling work. The event is free to attend.
On the day of the festival we will require 3 x Freelance Event Staff to join the TAGS Festival team to provide general event support from 9am to 5pm (including a paid break).

- Job Type: Freelance, Sessional
- Hourly rate: £13.50/hour
- Total number of hours: 8
- Delivery of hours: 17/10/26
Duties:
- Greeting festival guests and providing festival information
- Signposting to utilities, giving directions and acting as a general point of contact for enquiries
- Assisting exhibitors and guest speakers where required
- Processing cash and card transactions
- Upholding Health and Safety procedures and Safeguarding Policy for event
- Providing an overall friendly, enthusiastic and attentive welcome to complement the festival’s ethos of accessibility and inclusivity for all in the independent publishing community
- Carrying out other duties as reasonably expected of the post
Person specification:
- Excellent customer service
- Approachable, outgoing and reliable
- Strong communication skills
- Effective multi-tasking
- Able to recognise when to seek further assistance for a query
- Experience of sales and/or cash handling is desirable but not necessary
- An interest in comics/illustration is advantageous but not necessary
As this is a freelance role you will be required to log your hours and submit your own tax return to HMRC.
