Community arts charity Impact Arts is looking for two Music Leads to join our team working in HMYOI Polmont’s performing arts space.
Rate of pay: £23.60 p/h @ 7hrs a day = £165.20 per day for 42 sessions, plus 6 days for induction, prep & evaluation.
Location: HMP & YOI Polmont, Falkirk with inductions and some training likely at our Boardwalk premises in Merchant City, Glasgow. Due to the working location, previous experience of working within a prison or similar setting is essential. If you believe you have comparable experience, please ensure this is clear on your application.
Travel: Travel contribution of £35 per day, inclusive of training and prep/admin days.
Reporting to: Amanda Munro – Programme Manager
Duration of contract: 42 weeks plus 6 days for induction, prep & evaluation.
Working hours: Wednesdays, 8am – 4pm, delivering two workshops a day, with a lunch break.
Plus six days for:
- Induction
- Training
- Planning
- Meetings
- Reporting
The above activity will be scheduled flexibly around the workshops, as required throughout the contract.

Interview dates: Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st May
Expected start date: Induction will be between 1st and 5th June depending on successful candidate availability. First session expected Wednesday 10th June.
The Role: As a Music Lead working in HMYOI Polmont’s performing arts space, you will work closely with your colleague to design and deliver workshops that are accessible to a variety of needs, and adaptable to the interests and skill level of the group. Importantly, they will be particularly responsive to the experiences and circumstances of the young people. You will ensure that individual and group projects are possible, and that activity allows for reflection of the participant’s personal journeys, backgrounds and experiences. You will work with the Performing Arts Officer at Polmont to foster mentor opportunities where possible in the group setting, with an SQA accredited opportunity already in place via SPS. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with some very talented young people in a challenging yet rewarding environment. You will use your wealth of personal and professional experience to provide participants with valuable insight into vocational pathways in the music industry.
Main Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for the personal development and creative training of the young people on the programme.
- With your colleague, oversee the planning and delivery of the workshops.
