Overview

We have an exciting opportunity to assist with visual arts exhibitions, engagement and programming across East Ayrshire. Full time, permanent. 35 hrs/wk. £26,991-£28,260 pro rata.

Role and Location

The Visual Arts Development Assistant will contribute to and deliver excellent customer service across East Ayrshire Leisure. The postholder will facilitate the organisation, preparation and delivery of a wide range of planned programmes, activities and events across East Ayrshire Leisure, contributing to the design and delivery of innovative, modern and sustainable services. Working within a performance management and continuous improvement framework the postholder will strive to exceed the expectations of the East Ayrshire Leisure Strategy and Delivery Plan. This is a full-time, front-facing role based at the Dick Institute, Kilmarnock and working across venues throughout the region. Hours of work are 35 per week: Monday – Thursday 9.00am – 5.00pm (50 minute unpaid lunchbreak) and Friday 9.00am – 4.00pm (40 minute unpaid lunchbreak). Flexibility for some evening and weekend work is required, with accrued time taken back in accordance with the Flexible Working Policy.

Key Duties

  • Assist with the planning, scheduling and installation of exhibitions, displays, events and projects.
  • Assist with the care and maintenance of exhibitions and displays including object care / handling, condition checking, environmental and security controls, engagement and interpretation resourcing.
  • Assist with visual arts programming and commissioning, supporting the development of the regional visual arts sector.
  • Plan and deliver visual arts learning and engagement activities to a broad range of groups.
  • Contribute to audience development and support promotion, and monitoring and evaluation processes.
  • Maintain successful and productive partnerships that will have a positive impact on the service and the community.
