We are looking for enthusiastic, experienced and customer focused individuals to join our café and catering team at Dovecot.

Location: Edinburgh

Salary: Real Living Wage (£13.45 per hour)

Reports to: Café and Catering Lead

Shift pattern: 2-3 days per week (flexible)

Additional: Staff discount on retail 20%

As a member of Dovecot’s café and catering team, you will help run Dovecot’s in‑house café on a day‑to‑day basis, greeting customers, making and serving coffees and food, operating the till, upselling where appropriate, and keeping the café clean and tidy. You may also assist the Events and Hospitality Manager with catering and events as needed. You will deliver and maintain excellent customer service and share knowledge about Dovecot and its exhibitions confidently with visitors, acting as an ambassador for Dovecot.

Opportunities exist within this role to undertake additional responsibilities across our Front‑of‑House operation, managing sales of retail products and exhibition tickets and contributing to excellent visitor services from our Welcome Desk. The café and catering team are an integral part of Dovecot’s commercial department. You will work alongside the Front of House, Events, and Marketing teams to contribute to Dovecot’s larger commercial goals and mission.

  • Previous experience working in a café, hospitality, or customer service environment

  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise
  • Passion for and knowledge of the arts (tapestry and textiles are a bonus)
