Actor needed to join the cast of the world premiere production of THESE ARE OUR NEIGHBOURS by Katharine Williams, premiering in a week's run at the Citizens Theatre, Glasgow in October.

Show description: THESE ARE OUR NEIGHBOURS by Katharine Williams is a RUPTURE production, co‑produced by Company of Wolves and presented in association with Bijli Productions. Fusing documentary with celebratory dance theatre, it revisits the attempted raid on Kenmure Street in 2021 that became an eight‑hour act of shared resistance, where an entire community mobilised to protect two people from deportation. Written by Katharine Williams and developed in collaboration with the community of Pollokshields, it blends words, movement, music and light to tell an inspiring story of everyday humanity, solidarity and courage.

The role: We are seeking an actor for the role of Sam (any gender). If cast, you would become a member of a three‑person cast, working with Umar Butt (playing Jai) and Leticia Sánchez (playing Frankie). All cast members play other small roles as well as their main role. Sam lives across the street from the two men who were detained and emerged on the street just after the protest began, when only about ten people were surrounding the van. Sam can be played by someone of any gender, any heritage, any body type. Sam has been to protests before and expects the police to halt the protest quickly and for the two men in the van to be taken away by Immigration Enforcement. Sam is about to have the most unexpected day.

Required criteria:

  • Skilled actor with experience of new writing in development.
  • Skilled movement and/or dance performer and maker; we are open to people with professional experience in any dance/movement discipline such as circus, ballet, breakdance, clowning, wheelchair dance.
  • Previous professional experience of devising.
  • Was at the Kenmure Street immigration protest, or has some kind of connection to the subject matter of the play.
  • A minimum experience level of either professional performance training to degree level and at least three professional credits after graduation, or the equivalent professional experience to match or exceed this.
  • A positive, generous, and quietly confident collaborator in the rehearsal room.

Paid at £700/week for 5 weeks, plus holiday pay. The deadline is Tuesday 19 May 2026 at 23:55.
