We have partnered with a great full serviced storytelling agency and are on the hunt for a talented lead animator to join their growing, award-winning team, working with clients ranging from the public sector, education to government bodies. Their studio is based in the Yorkshire counties and they work only 1 day in the office / 4 days remote. They have onsite parking and are a 5 min walk from the main station. They are also open to flexible working hours.

Now for the role... We now have an incredible opportunity for a Lead Animator with a flair for building collaborative relationships, communicating complexity clearly through animation and the ability to bring stories to life. The purpose of this role will be to create 2D and 3D animations and illustrations for our clients.

You will:

  • Lead animation projects, working collaboratively with the team, clients and freelance animators to tell stories for social good, and build the brand.
  • Manage, coach and develop two other animators to bring the best out of the team to serve our clients with incredible work.
  • Create storyboards and animation assets using your own illustration skills, or work with illustrators to bring storyboards to life.
  • Create high-quality character and object animations using 2D and/or 3D techniques.
  • Develop and maintain animation pipelines, tools, and workflows to optimize efficiency and quality.
  • Ensure that animation assets are delivered on time and meet the project's technical and creative requirements.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, techniques, and software.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations, effectively communicating and pitching animation concepts and ideas.
  • Lend your illustration skills to print and digital work where required.

Requirements:

  • A self-starter who shows initiative and has incredible inter-personal and communication skills.
  • A quick thinker, able to work in a very fast-paced environment, create quality work quickly, and communicate complicated ideas visually.
  • A curious mindset and a creative problem solver who can think outside the box.
  • A natural leader, with the ability to manage people, process, business need and clients.
  • Bachelor's degree in Animation, Illustration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • At least 5 years’ experience in animation, with a strong portfolio showcasing your expertise in both 2D and/or 3D animation, illustration and managing a team.
  • Experience in explainer animations for research and public sector is a plus.
  • Previous experience of line management.
  • Excellent knowledge of character animation, lip-sync, and facial expressions.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and analytically.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Proficient in industry-standard animation software, especially Adobe After Effects.
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) skills, and Google Drive skills (Sheets, Documents) are essential.
