Dimz Inc. Academy is a free, week-long creative experience for 18–24-year-olds from under-represented backgrounds who want to break into the world of digital media. Founded by Amelia Dimoldenberg (creator of Chicken Shop Date) and powered by Spiral Skills, this immersive programme will give you the skills, confidence, and connections to take your first step into creative industries. Get real-world experience as you work with high-profile industry professionals, create original content, learn about the art of storytelling and go behind the scenes of one of the UK’s most popular online shows.
The mission: to give young people the tools, resources, and network to kickstart careers in digital media, and the wider creator economy. Spiral Skills is partnering with Dimz Inc. Academy to amplify this vision, co-creating pathways to empower the next generation storytellers.
This isn’t about sitting in a classroom. It’s about real work, real connections, and building a portfolio that helps you stand out. This is your chance to step into the industry with confidence, credibility and a crew behind you.
Across five themed days, you’ll get hands-on experience, explore different creative career paths, and build the kind of skills that get you noticed. From content creation and storytelling to production and editing, you’ll learn from high-profile industry professionals, and it all leads up to shadowing the Chicken Shop Date team on a live shoot.
Your Week at a Glance 4th – 8th August
Day 1: Develop your concept
- Meet and learn from the creative entrepreneurs
- Come up with a creative show idea

Day 2: Go Behind the Scenes & shadow a live production
- Shadow the Chicken Shop Date team in action

Day 3: Shoot Your Content
- Meet professional filmmakers and creative directors
- Learn about production, filming and directing
- Create a short promo of your concept
️ Day 4: Edit Like a Pro
- Learn the art of postproduction from executive producers
- Learn about structure, cuts and audio on accessible software
- Watch it come to life on the big screen
Day 5: Brand, Market & Pitch It
- Work with marketing directors and social media specialists
- Design a look, vibe + logo for your show
- Learn how to pitch and present it across multimedia channels
- Launch your concept
What Happens After?
The journey doesn’t stop on Day 5. Every young person who takes part will get ongoing, one-to-one support from Spiral Skills to help take their next steps with confidence. You’ll have access to at least three tailored sessions with Spiral’s trained mentors and employment advisors.
These sessions are all about you. Whether you need help building a strong CV or portfolio, preparing for interviews, or figuring out what’s next, we’ve got your back. You’ll also be connected to real creative opportunities in employment, training, and further education.
You’ll leave with a personalised action plan, clear goals, and long-term support to keep you moving forward. Plus, you’ll be part of a growing network of creative young people across London who are turning ambition into action.
