The New Curators Project is an annual programme run by UCL Special Collections with support from London Borough of Newham. It offers 10 young adults in East London the chance to develop the skills and experience needed to start a career in the cultural heritage sector. That could mean working in a museum, an art gallery, at a heritage site, in libraries and archives or an arts organisation.

We offer financial support to enable participants to take part – if they attend all of the sessions this will be a total of £680. This is based on the London Living Wage, as of December 2025. We also support participants in applying for jobs and with further professional development through our New Curators Network, which connects each year's cohort with previous participants through talks, events and visits throughout the year.

In‐person workshops will run weekly on Tuesday evenings, 5‐7pm from 10 March – 30 June 2026 inclusive, at UCL East in Stratford.

If you are aged 18 to 24, from Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest or Newham, if you don't have a degree and are not currently going to university, you can be a part of the next New Curators Project!
