Swimming Instructor Friends of Jubilee Pool, Bristol

Creating Active Futures (CAF) operates and manages sports and leisure facilities provided by local authorities. The aim is to operate community-based sports and leisure facilities, enhancing accessibility for all individuals to engage in diverse physical activities. Specifically, CAF aims to empower individuals to overcome barriers to participation in sports and leisure, including those facing financial constraints, limited opportunities, or lacking necessary support to fully engage in sports activities.

Job Description

The primary objective for the Swimming Teacher will be:

  1. To deliver group and one-to-one lessons to a variety of ages and abilities as part of our Learn to Swim Programme, following the Swim England\’s Learn to Swim Framework.
  2. To deliver at least one crash course during the year within our Learn to Swim Programme.
  3. To deliver high-quality lessons in line with the company\’s expected standards and schemes of work.
  4. To deliver the company\’s internal water safety competencies \”Swim Safer, Smarter, Stronger\”.
  5. To deliver both in and out of the water, providing explanations and demonstrating appropriate swimming techniques for each skill level.
  6. To carry out ongoing assessments and update the child\’s progression via tablet after each lesson.
  7. To adhere to all health and safety protocols as stipulated in the company\’s policies and procedures.
  8. Must hold an NRASTC qualification and conduct own lifeguard sessions when subject to local NOP/EAP.
  9. To continue professional development through various CPDs hosted by the company.
  10. To maximize retention of swim school participants through quality standards, motivation, and customer care.
  11. To ensure strong communication links between yourself, swim manager, reception, and duty management.
  12. You will be passionate about always seeking ways to improve our swim lesson programme and serve swimmers and customers better.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills

  • SEQ Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) qualification.
  • SEQ Level 2 Swimming Teacher Qualification or equivalent.
  • NPLQ or NRASTC.

  • Ability to communicate well with both children and adults in a teaching setting.
  • Ability to gain acceptance and respect from colleagues and customers.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with customers, colleagues, and teachers.
  • Flexibility in working hours to meet the demands of the role.
