About the role and team:

Build software that matters. Shape the future of engineering. We're looking for an experienced Senior Full Stack Software Engineer (Java + TypeScript) with strong, current commercial experience across both backend and frontend development. You'll be hands-on building scalable, high-quality software while also contributing to technical direction, architectural decisions and engineering best practice. This is a genuine full-stack role — you'll need strong commercial experience with both Java and TypeScript. Experience with Vue.js is preferred, although we're also keen to speak with strong React engineers who are comfortable working with or upskilling into Vue.js. Candidates should also have previous experience within iGaming or financial services, given the nature of the client and the environment you'll be working within. You'll thrive here if you enjoy solving complex problems, challenging assumptions, collaborating openly, and taking pride in delivering software that makes a real business impact.

What You'll Do:

  • Design, build and maintain scalable, secure and resilient backend services using modern Java and Spring Boot, alongside modern frontend applications using TypeScript and Vue.js.
  • Work hands-on across the full stack, contributing to both backend and frontend development throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
  • Contribute to technical design and architectural discussions, ensuring solutions are maintainable, scalable and appropriate for the problem being solved.
  • Develop and evolve RESTful APIs with a focus on security, performance and reliability.
  • Champion engineering excellence through clean, maintainable code, automated testing, documentation and constructive code reviews.
  • Take ownership of delivery, working through ambiguity and balancing technical quality with commercial priorities.
  • Support and mentor other engineers through collaboration, pairing and knowledge sharing.
  • Work closely with engineers, product teams and client stakeholders to understand problems and deliver effective technical solutions.
  • Explore opportunities to use AI, automation and emerging technologies to improve engineering productivity and software delivery.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous learning, collaboration and technical excellence.

What You'll Bring:

Technical Expertise You'll Have:

  • Strong Commercial Experience With Full-stack software engineering, with strong and current hands-on experience across both Java and TypeScript (essential).
  • Modern frontend development using Vue.js or React, with Vue.js preferred.
  • Modern Java and object-oriented software development.
  • Spring Boot and the wider Spring ecosystem.
  • Building and integrating RESTful APIs.
  • Microservices and distributed systems.
  • SQL databases and data persistence technologies such as JPA / Hibernate.
  • Automated testing across unit, integration and functional layers.
  • Git and modern software development workflows.
  • CI/CD and automated software delivery.
  • Docker and containerised applications.
  • Cloud-based environments such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
  • Building secure, observable and production-ready software.

Experience with the following would also be advantageous:

  • Messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • NoSQL databases.
  • Spring Security, OAuth2 and JWT.
  • Kubernetes and container orchestration.
  • Observability tooling including logging, metrics and distributed tracing.
  • Spring Cloud, WebFlux or reactive programming.
  • Java concurrency and JVM performance optimisation.

Domain Experience:

Previous commercial experience within iGaming or financial services is essential. Experience working within high-volume, regulated or transactional environments would be particularly relevant.

What we’ll offer you:

We trust people to do their best work. That means flexibility over rigid rules, impact over activity, and real investment in your growth both professionally and personally. You’ll be part of a supportive, and friendly culture, surrounded by smart, curious people who care deeply about what they do. We offer flexible working, including hybrid and remote options. Our office hubs are located in Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, London and Bulgaria, with occasional travel to client sites or CreateFuture offices when needed. We trust you to manage your time balancing collaboration with client time and focused work. What matters is the impact you have, not how busy you look.

Our hiring process:

We try to keep our hiring process clear, fair and respectful of your time. We aim to get back to everyone who applies and we will be upfront about where you are in the process. It usually looks like this:

  • Call with our Talent Acquisition Team.
  • Role specific capability interview.
  • Depending on the role, we might also ask you to do a short presentation, a practical or technical task or have a values focused conversation. We will explain what is involved before anything happens.

Inclusion at CreateFuture:

We believe diverse teams build better workplaces and better products. We want CreateFuture to be a place where people feel able to be themselves and do their best work. If you need any adjustments or support during the application process, just let us know. We will do what we can to help. We look forward to your application!

How to prepare for a job interview at CreateFuture

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If CreateFuture uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
