Job Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant with a strong foundation in financial operations and a passion for the music industry. You will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing royalty accounting, and supporting internal and external reporting across EMEA operations, which includes multiple music labels. This role requires a balance of technical accounting skills and industry awareness, especially in royalties, digital revenue, and content monetisation.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger management
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Process and analyse artist advances and expenses
- Reconcile third-party statements (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, etc.)
- Support the preparation of financial statements in line with GAAP or IFRS
- Contribute to timely tax return filings and statutory reporting requirements
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and controls
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and improve financial reporting
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of professional accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS
- Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data manipulation)
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with global teams
- Proactive in identifying areas for financial improvement and accuracy
- Previous experience in the music, media, or entertainment industry
- Familiarity with royalty accounting and related software
- Experience with independent labels and/or publishing companies
- Understanding of music revenue streams (DSPs, UGC platforms, PROs)
- Ability to interpret artist contracts and distribution agreements
- A genuine passion for music and the creative industries
Pay Scale
- £37,500 – £45,000 per year
- The final compensation within this range will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and overall fit for the role.
- Annual Leave: 20 days of annual paid holiday per year, plus 8 bank holidays
- Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break
- Location Requirement: Primarily remote, but candidates must be based in or able to easily travel to Manchester or Liverpool for periodic in-person meetings.
