ROLE PURPOSE
This is a senior leadership role, in which you will be tasked with delivering excellent patient care, managing a successful team and growing your region in line with CREATE company expectations. You will be required to actively participate in the delivery of care for patients, to manage and develop the clinical team and to grow a culture of high performance from all staff. You will need to maintain compliance with our regulatory requirements (e.g. HFEA) and to apply best practices as per CREATE protocols and other industry standards (e.g. Caldicott principles).
Duties and Objectives
- Manage the day-to-day running of the clinical service which involves ensuring all clinical areas in both the hub and satellite clinics in the region are appropriately staffed in order to provide an excellent service safely and effectively.
- Plan and deliver maximum appointment efficiency, diary & room utilisation.
- Work with other members of the multi-disciplinary team to improve the quality, efficiency and delivery of patient service and attend a weekly Leaders meeting.
- Take direction from the medical and operational directors.
- Work closely with other Heads of Nursing, to ensure delivery of a sustainable clinical model, develop initiatives to meet growth expectations and ensuring consistent policies and procedures are adhered to across the company.
- Attend monthly meetings with all Heads of Nursing in the company.
- Ensure all staff complete mandatory induction to CREATE and the company ethos, mandatory training, receive adequate training in all areas of the service they deliver and have a good understanding of the HFEA.
- Hold regular nurses meetings with the hub and satellite nursing team in order to cascade information from the Leaders and Head of Nursing meetings.
- Support and grow harmonious working relationships within your clinic teams, region and the group.
- Develop, update, implement and monitor departmental KPIs, policies and procedures which will deliver ambitious goals and the business objectives of CREATE.
- Respond to complaints quickly and in line with the company policy and utilise complaints in a positive way to improve future patient experience.
- Work closely with HR in the management of staff and be familiar with the HR policies and procedures.
- Manage the daily rota, sickness, absence and holidays.
- Ensure the nursing comply with CPD and revalidation.
- Perform regular 1:1s and appraisals and ensure NMC registration.
- Work with the training and development manager to ensure relevant training for individuals and encourage attendance at study days and conferences.
- Attend regular Compliance meetings within CREATE.
- Work with external suppliers e.g. blood laboratory, consumables, medication and equipment to ensure that the service is carried out at an excellent standard, with maximum efficiency and with lowest wastage and cost.
- Assist the clinic manager in the training and development of the administrative team.
- Co-ordinate the theatre diary, ensuring anaesthetic cover when required ensuring clinical governance & safety in theatres & recovery areas.
- Be fully up to date and compliant with the HFEA code of practice.
- Maintain a safe service and environment for patients and staff.
- Achieve a high performance culture and fulfilling work environment in order to retain staff and keep morale high.
- Ensure regular unit meetings happen and encourage all staff to contribute to ideas that can help build a good team.
- Manage the audit schedule and HFEA inspections.
- Lead by setting high standards ensure adverse incidents are avoided where possible, or kept to the minimum.
- Plan and prepare for and real-time manage emergency situations.
CLINICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Help achieve high success rates for patients and manage the journey by being transparent and managing the expectations of the patient.
- Promote the clinics mild and natural fertility techniques.
- Actively participate in USS lists, theatre procedures, initial, treatment and follow up consultations.
- Attend the weekly local and national MDT meeting and encourage all team members to join.
- Train staff so they have the opportunity to make their aspirations become a reality.
- Educate and manage staff to ensure that all staff provide the same high quality care.
- Monitor and manage staff to be able to be excellent ambassadors for CREATE.
- Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times.
- Be the accountable officer for controlled drugs.
- Manage and be part of the emergency phone rota.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- Qualified RGN or Equivalent.
- Extensive experience and expertise in assisted reproduction services and pelvic ultrasound scanning.
- A good working knowledge of HFEA regulations and license conditions.
- Leadership and management qualities and prior experience, to make the clinic a success, to be a role-model for staff and to lead them as is required.
- Operational Mindset, to plan, organise and deliver an excellent service.
- Ambitious and Dynamic, to grow with the company and to achieve exceptional high performance.
- Friendly and kind, to empathise with patients.
- Hard-working and ability to work under pressure.
