Role Objective: As a member of the nursing team at Create Health you are responsible for ensuring an effective nursing service is provided, and that quality evidence based practice patient care is delivered, with particular reference to participation in the development and delivery of holistic nursing care. Maintaining high clinical standards in accordance with the clinics philosophy and current policies and procedures.
Duties and Objectives:
- Responsible and accountable for the provision of patient care.
- To provide accurate, clear and concise patient information.
- To conduct baseline pelvic ultrasound scans for abc/CREATE patients (dependent on individual scanning training/competencies).
- To conduct early pregnancy ultrasound scans for abc/CREATE patients (dependent on individual scanning training/competencies).
- Responsible for conducting ultrasound treatment scans for abc and CREATE patients (dependent on individual scanning training/competencies) following an agreed treatment plan.
- To conduct Initial Consultations and develop patient treatment plans.
- To comply with the ABC rulebook when checking patient criteria and ensure all treatment plans comply.
- To perform follow up consultations as needed.
- To conduct CREATE/abc treatment Consultations.
- Phlebotomy and results interpretation IDEAs, SF, FC and TDL – to be able to understand and work with these systems.
- Escalate patients to senior medical team or MDT when necessary.
- Ensuring safeguarding of the patient and appropriate referrals are made (ie FGM, domestic violence, Multi Agency Safeguarding hubs).
- Referral letters/correspondence to other professionals (ie. GP for WOC, referral letters to medical specialities).
- Assist with egg collections, embryo transfers, IUI, smears and other gynecology procedures.
- Where competent, to perform egg collections, embryo transfers, IUI’s, cervical smears.
- To help with other duties/other clinics if necessary.
- Ensure that the rights, confidentiality and privacy of patients is protected at all times.
- Provide advice, support and patient advocate as necessary throughout treatment.
- Practice evidence based practice applying validated research.
- To participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.
- To communicate and liaise with the medical/nursing staff of satellite units/other hubs to provide effective patient care.
- Ensure correct storage, control and administration of drugs and medication in accordance with clinics policies.
- Ensure that adequate clinic consumables are stored and in date.
- Ensure records are kept in a clear accurate and legible manner and in accordance with the HFEA Code of Practice.
- To undertake training as required.
- To participate in the on call and weekend roster as required.
- To take an active role in the unit’s policies and standard settings in conjunction with other team members.
- Ensure policies are followed and problems and incidents are reported as appropriate.
- To participate in the recruitment of new patients.
- To attend the abc nurse consultant regular meetings.
Qualifications, Experience / Personal Specification:
- Professional: To act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and the Scope of Professional Practice.
- Ensure that personal revalidation NMC registration is maintained.
- To be responsible for continued professional development.

- To undertake mandatory in service training.
- To participate in teaching, training and support of nursing staff as required.
- To assist in the supervision of new staff.
- To be aware of the centre’s fire regulations and emergency procedures.
- Yearly ILS training CREATE campus.
- Attend conferences and study days as appropriate.
- To have the appropriate qualifications/competency to perform egg collections, embryo transfers, IUI’s and cervical smears.
Personal:
- To participate in regular performance reviews.
- To adhere to the terms and conditions of employment as stated by Create Fertility.
