Role Purpose
The Cryostorage administrator will assist the lab team in all aspects of management of cryostorage in accordance with the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) Act and relevant professional Codes of Conduct. The Cryostorage administrator maintains full and proper records, as well as participating in data analysis, audit and research to ensure a high quality of services is provided to patients.
Duties and Objectives
- To assist in the effective day to day management of the Create/IVIRMA embryology cryostorage module with reference to consent periods, notification to patients of consent expiry, renewal of consents and discard of samples with reference to the timeframes specified by the HFEA.
- To assist in the development and running of online systems for consents renewal and payments for storage.
- To correctly and accurately enter data into the clinic database and maintain this database up to date at all times.
- To be responsible for monitoring of consent periods of samples stored in cryotanks.
- To update the database as necessary and contact patients with samples in expiry.
- To coordinate with the administration on payments for storage.
- To manage renewal of consents in appropriate timeframes taking into account the requirements of the HFEA.
- To manage cryo equipment across all sites including storage dewars, alarms, delivery of liquid nitrogen.
- To assist in cryo audits.
- To manage requests for discard including proper completion of consent forms, advisory notices, communication with patients and the final authorisation of the discard.
Other Responsibilities
- To have responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of others and to comply at all times with the requirements of the health and safety regulations.
- To ensure confidentiality at all times, only releasing confidential information obtained during the course of the employment to those acting in an official capacity and in accordance with HFEA regulations.
- To act in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
Qualifications
Educational Background: GCSE or equivalent experience. Some experience in Quality management, use of computers and database systems is desirable.
