The Role
As part of our expanding services, we are seeking a biopsy trained Clinical Embryologist to join our team in Wilmslow for a fixed term of 1 year.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing all aspects of IVF treatment cycles, including ICSI and oocyte/embryo vitrification.
- Working with low egg and embryo numbers, requiring meticulous attention to detail.
- Engaging with patients and collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team.
- Maintaining laboratory records and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Participating in weekend rotas as part of a 40-hour work week.
- Reporting to the Laboratory Manager.
- Applying aseptic techniques and adhering to clean room principles.
- Preparing dishes, tubes, and media for assisted conception.
- Managing laboratory documentation and databases.
- Performing semen analysis, preparation, and sperm freezing.
- Handling oocyte collection and culture.
- Performing Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) procedures with precision and expertise.
- Conducting biopsy procedures with a high degree of accuracy and care.
- Observing fertilisation and scoring embryo morphology.
- Conducting embryo transfer, vitrification, and warming.
- Participating in external quality control schemes.
- Managing gas cylinders, laboratory stock, and batch control.
- Liaising with team members across the clinic.
- Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety, COSHH, and risk reporting protocols.
- Understanding the role of the HFEA.
