Assistant SENDCo – PermanentLocation: Watford Salary: Dependent on experience Contract: Permanent, Full-Time Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm, 39 weeks per year Create Education are working with a high-performing school in Watford to recruit an experienced and ambitious Assistant SENDCo to join their SEND leadership team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a SEND professional looking to take the next step in their career, working closely with the SENDCo to lead, develop and coordinate high-quality SEND provision across the school. The RoleAs Assistant SENDCo, you will: Support the SENDCo in leading and developing SEND provision across the school. Deputise for the SENDCo when required. Coordinate provision for students with SEND, working closely with staff, parents, carers and external professionals. Manage EHCP Annual Reviews, provision maps, student plans and statutory documentation. Support Exam Access Arrangements, including assessment, evidence gathering and JCQ compliance. Line manage and support a team of LSAs and an HLTA, including appraisals, CPD and performance management. Support staff with strategies and interventions to improve outcomes for students with SEND. Liaise with external agencies and contribute to referrals and consultation responses. Promote inclusion and ensure students with SEND receive appropriate support and access to the curriculum. Support transition for students joining or leaving the school. Deliver Functional Skills in Maths and English to students in Years 10 and 11.The Ideal CandidateWe are looking for someone who has: Strong experience supporting students with SEND within an educational setting. A good understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, EHCP processes and statutory requirements. Knowledge of JCQ Exam Access Arrangements and experience with assessment/testing. Experience of line management, staff development or leading a SEND team. Excellent organisation and administration skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines. Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with teachers, parents, students and external professionals. A commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and improving outcomes for young people. Experience working across the four broad areas of SEND need.Desirable: HLTA status, a degree, CPT3A/access arrangements qualification or a Level 5 Assistant SENCO qualification.
