We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Science Technician to support the delivery of high-quality practical learning across our Science department, with additional support for Art and/or Design Technology where required. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong science background who also has a practical, creative skillset, whether gained through formal study, previous experience, or personal interest.
The Role
- Prepare, maintain and organise equipment and materials for Science practical lessons (Biology, Chemistry and Physics)
- Support teachers and students during practical activities
- Ensure laboratories and prep rooms are safe, organised and well maintained
- Assist with Art and/or Design Technology resources, tools or materials as needed
- Support health & safety procedures, risk assessments and safe storage of equipment
- Contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of practical department
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Essential
- A strong background in Science, ideally supported by a degree or equivalent qualification (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Physics or related discipline)
- Experience of practical or laboratory-based work
- A methodical, organised approach and strong attention to detail
- A positive, flexible attitude and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
- A working knowledge of Art and/or Design Technology, gained through:
- Previous school or workshop experience
- Studied modules (e.g. DT, product design, engineering, art)
- Personal interests or hobbies (e.g. making, modelling, creative design, practical crafts)
- Familiarity with workshop tools, materials, or creative processes
- Experience working in an educational setting (secondary school preferred)
