We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed SEN Teacher of PSHE to lead and deliver a high-quality Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education curriculum across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 within a specialist SEMH setting.

About the Role

You will be responsible for designing and delivering a sequenced, engaging and highly relevant PSHE curriculum that meets the needs of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The curriculum will include:

  • Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)
  • Health Education
  • Careers education and preparation for adulthood
  • Life skills, emotional literacy and wellbeing
  • Financial education and citizenship
  • Safety, safeguarding and online safety

The role requires a practical, relational and trauma-informed approach to teaching, ensuring that learning is accessible, meaningful and impactful for all learners.

The Ideal Candidate

This role would suit:

  • A qualified Secondary PSHE specialist
  • A teacher with experience in RSE, Citizenship or Personal Development
  • A teacher with strong pastoral experience and a passion for holistic education

We are looking for someone who is calm, consistent and able to build strong, trusting relationships with young people. Experience or understanding of SEMH approaches such as emotion coaching, nurture principles, Zones of Regulation, and restorative practice is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver a progressive PSHE curriculum tailored to SEMH learners
  • Ensure full statutory compliance for RSE and Health Education
  • Embed safeguarding, online safety and risk awareness throughout lessons
  • Promote pupil voice, reflection and personal development
  • Work closely with pastoral, safeguarding and external agency teams
  • Contribute to whole-school personal development strategies
  • Support learners in developing skills for independence and adulthood
