Design & Technology Technician β Secondary School
The Role
As a DT Technician, you will work closely with the school's DT teaching team to ensure workshops, classrooms and equipment are prepared and maintained to a high standard.
- Preparing materials, tools and equipment for practical DT lessons.
- Supporting teachers during practical lessons and assisting students where appropriate.
- Maintaining and organising DT workshops, classrooms and storage areas.
- Ensuring tools, machinery and equipment are safe, clean and ready for use.
- Carrying out basic maintenance and repairs of equipment where appropriate.
- Managing stock levels and ordering or preparing materials when required.
- Supporting with displays, student projects and practical demonstrations.
- Ensuring appropriate health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
- Working collaboratively with the DT department to provide an effective and engaging learning environment.
- The successful candidate will ideally have
- Previous experience working as a DT Technician, Workshop Technician, Engineering Technician, Design Technology Assistant or in a similar practical role based within the subject of Design Technology.
- Strong practical skills and confidence using a range of tools, machinery and workshop equipment.
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures within a workshop environment.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- A practical, proactive and hands-on approach.
- The ability to work effectively alongside teaching staff and support students.
- Good communication skills and a professional approach.
- Experience working within a school or educational environment is desirable.
- DBS on the Update Service or be willing to have one put in process asap.
