Create Education is working in partnership with a specialist SEN school in Barking to recruit 2 experienced Co-Educators (SEN Teaching Assistants) to join their team from September. These positions will be based within Year 1 and Year 2 classes, supporting pupils with complex additional needs in a highly specialised learning environment. This is an incredibly rewarding role but it is also physically and emotionally demanding. We are looking for resilient, energetic and experienced SEN professionals who are passionate about making a genuine difference to children's lives.
The Role
You will be working alongside experienced teachers and therapists to support pupils who:
- Are non-verbal and communicate using a variety of alternative communication methods.
- Have complex learning needs and require high levels of individual support throughout the school day.
- Require full personal care and hygiene support.
- Benefit from structured routines, sensory activities and consistent encouragement.
The school is looking for individuals who can maintain high energy, work at pace and remain calm and positive in a busy classroom environment.
Essential Requirements
Please only apply if you meet the following criteria:
- Previous experience supporting primary-aged children (Year 1/Year 2 or similar age group) with complex Special Educational Needs.
- Experience working with non-verbal pupils.
- Experience providing personal care and hygiene support as part of your role.
- Strong understanding of supporting children with complex learning needs within an SEN setting.
- Confident working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Patient, proactive, reliable and committed to helping every child reach their full potential.
Unfortunately, applications without relevant SEN experience at this level will not be considered.
