We are seeking a passionate and proactive Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) to join a dedicated specialist SEN school supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs.

About the Role
As DDSL, you will work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead to ensure the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of all pupils. You will play a key role in managing safeguarding concerns, supporting staff, and liaising with external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for children with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the DSL in all safeguarding matters across the school
- Respond to safeguarding concerns in a timely and professional manner
- Work closely with staff to promote a safe and nurturing environment
- Liaise with external agencies including social care and early help services
- Maintain accurate and confidential safeguarding records
- Support a strong safeguarding culture across the school community
- Provide advice and guidance to staff working with vulnerable pupils
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience in safeguarding within an education or SEN setting
- Strong understanding of KCSIE and child protection procedures
- Experience working with children with additional needs (SEN/SEMH/ASC desirable)
- Calm, confident and resilient when managing sensitive situations
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Relevant safeguarding qualification (desirable but not essential depending on experience)
Salary & Contract
£32,595 per annum. Initially a temporary position with strong potential to become permanent for the right candidate based on performance. Full-time role, term time only (details to be confirmed).
