Graduate / Junior Acoustic Consultant in Chelmsford

We’re looking for a talented graduate or junior‑level professional, either with an interest in or 2 years’ experience of acoustic consultancy, to join our award-winning Acoustics team. This role is ideal for a confident individual looking to start their career in acoustics, build their practical experience, and technical knowledge with the support of a highly qualified and industry‑respected team. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of projects for both public and private sector clients. You’ll collaborate with like‑minded professionals across the UK and play an active role helping to shape a dynamic and growing team.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Carrying out environmental noise surveys and building acoustics testing.
• Producing technical reports (noise impact assessments, etc.) to support planning.
• Assisting with acoustic modelling and the interpretation of data gathered through fieldwork.
• Managing relationships with clients, planners, contractors and local authorities.
• Contributing to the development of proposal documents, tender submissions, business development and marketing materials.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Currently studying for or have recently graduated with a degree in Music Technology, Physics, Environmental Science or a related subject.
• A willingness to study towards an Institute of Acoustics Diploma.
• Eagerness to build practical experience and technical knowledge across core areas such as environmental noise and building acoustics.
• Prior knowledge of BS4142, BS8233 and relevant planning guidance for acoustics.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Client‑facing skills, with a willingness to support the development of new opportunities.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
