About the role
We are seeking a Mid-Level Full Stack Ruby on Rails Software Engineer to help create engaging learning experiences for our web app and a soon-to-be-announced project. Leveraging your expertise in AI-enabled engineering, you will champion all development work from concept stage through to feature completion. You’ll gain a deep understanding of Create Academy’s customers and use this insight to drive technical excellence and communicate that process and thinking to the founders and wider product team.
Tech Stack
- Current: Rails 8.0, Next.js + Sanity (marketing site)
- Flexibility: You'll work closely with the CTO to evolve the architecture
Required Experience
- 5+ years Ruby on Rails production experience
- AI-enabled engineering
- Full-stack development with modern JavaScript frameworks
- PostgreSQL, RESTful APIs, background jobs (good_job)
- Payment systems (Stripe)
- Team leadership and architectural decision-making
- Bonus - brightcove or video, saas
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical direction and architecture decisions
- Own the entire codebase as the primary developer
- Implement new features while improving existing code
- Work with UX, design and growth teams
- Utilise latest Ai tooling to streamline processes
