We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Fleet Manager to oversee and manage our extensive fleet of vehicles and materials handling equipment, including lorries, vans, forklifts, trailers, and associated plant equipment.
Reporting to senior management, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the fleet operates safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively while maintaining full compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operation of a large mixed fleet of lorries, vans, forklifts, and associated equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all transport legislation, operator licence requirements, health and safety standards, and vehicle regulations.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules and inspection programmes.
- Monitor vehicle utilisation, fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and overall fleet performance.
- Manage relationships with vehicle suppliers, maintenance providers, leasing companies, and fuel suppliers.
- Maintain accurate records and provide regular management reporting on fleet costs, compliance, replenishment plans and operational efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to improve fleet productivity and reduce operating cost
Criteria
- Proven experience in a fleet manager or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of HGV fleet management, transport legislation, and operator licence compliance.
- Experience managing forklifts and materials handling equipment.
- Excellent understanding of vehicle maintenance and workshop management practices.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Commercial awareness with experience in controlling costs.
- Proficiency in fleet management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience of telematics, fleet tracking systems, and driver performance monitoring.
