Role Description

The Civils Supervisor is a full-time, on-site role based in Glasgow, responsible for overseeing day-to-day civil construction activities and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to specification. The role involves planning and coordinating site works, supervising groundworks, concrete installations, utilities and enabling works, and structural blockwork, and ensuring quality standards are met. The Civils Supervisor will manage site teams and subcontractors, conduct site briefings and tool-box talks, monitor progress against programme, and maintain clear communication with project managers and clients. Duties also include ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining site documentation, reporting issues or defects, and supporting defect remediation and completion activities. The role requires a practical, hands-on approach and the ability to resolve issues on site while maintaining a positive and collaborative working environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in civil construction supervision, including groundworks, drainage, concrete works, and structural blockwork.
  • Proven ability to coordinate site operations, manage teams and subcontractors, and maintain project schedules.
  • Solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations, with a commitment to maintaining safe sites.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to provide clear instructions and collaborate with clients and project managers.
  • Experience with defect remediation, quality control, and reading drawings and specifications.
  • Relevant industry qualifications or certifications e.g., SSSTS/SMSTS, CSCS, EUSR card.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to work across different sites in the region.
  • Ability to work independently, make sound decisions on site, and support the development of less experienced team members.
