Production Machine Operative
Coated Conversion Salary: Β£26,607 per annum (Β£13.12 per hour) Working Hours: 39 hours per week Monday to Thursday: 08:30

16:00 Permanent role Role Overview Responsible for the efficient operation of production machinery and the assembly of abrasive products. Successful candidate will be expected to contribute to maintaining high standards of product quality, production efficiency, and workplace safety across all manufacturing processes. Key Responsibilities Machine Operation & Production Set up, calibrate and operate joint preparation and production machinery in line with work instructions and specifications Carry out cutting, slitting, pressing, assembly and belt nesting processes Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to optimise output and minimise downtime Ensure all products meet required quality standards throughout the manufacturing process Quality Control Inspect joints, belts and finished products for accuracy and consistency Conduct in-process and final quality checks Identify defects or inconsistencies and take corrective action where appropriate Accurately complete production and quality control records Maintenance & Housekeeping Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning to ensure optimal performance Report faults, breakdowns or safety concerns promptly to management Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment in accordance with company standards Product-Specific Duties Operate processes including: Cutting materials to length and size Pressing and assembly of abrasive belts Slitting materials to required widths Packing and preparing finished goods for dispatch Manufacture products, including: Wheels: cookie cutting, centre bore drilling, dressing, marking and inspection Points: drilling, gluing, shank mounting, curing, finishing and inspection Health & Safety Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company policies Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required Contribute to a safe working culture and report hazards immediately Teamwork & Continuous Improvement Work collaboratively with colleagues across production Follow instructions from supervisors and support team objectives Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying efficiencies in processes Additional Duties Undertake any other reasonable tasks as requested by senior management Skills & Experience: Essential Good level of literacy and numeracy Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to follow technical instructions and production documentation Good communication and teamwork skills Desirable Previous experience in a manufacturing or machine operation role Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of production processes Performance Expectations Demonstrate reliability and consistency in production output Maintain high-quality standards with minimal supervision Develop a strong understanding of all production processes Contribute positively to team performance and workplace culture
