Reporting Structure: The position reports to the Engineering and Maintenance Manager.

Working Environment: Workshop based.

Summary: The role is for a Multi Skilled engineer with a predominantly electrical skills bias, who will be responsible for performing and supervising site maintenance and engineering activities. The role will form a key part of the team responsible for the development of engineering maintenance, projects and safety protocols. The role holder will be expected to work outside standard core working hours and be part of the emergency response team.

Duties Responsibilities:

  • Performing mechanical and electrical maintenance.
  • Help with the management and coaching of the in-house maintenance team and assist with the development of new team members.
  • Maintenance and development of maintenance procedures for the companies’ Asset Management System and to ensure that preventative maintenance and servicing are up to standard, timely and recorded.
  • Assist with the management of third-party contractors. Provide site induction, supervision, review of methods and safety documentation and provide technical support where necessary.
  • Assist with project planning/management, design specifications, gathering of quotes and requisition of goods/services.
  • Resolving complex technical issues and/or plant failures as they arise.
  • Support investigation and follow-up measures for site-based incidents, environmental and safety reports.
  • Support the Engineering and Maintenance Managers’ activities and help ensure that the company continues to fulfil its legal obligations as a Lower Tier COMAH registered site.
  • Support the execution of site environmental and safety programs.
  • Support the ‘Management of Change’ process to ensure that the impact and consequences of changes are understood and mitigated.
  • Be a member of the on-site emergency response team.
  • Be a member of the out-of-hours emergency response team.

Requirements:

  • Educated to minimum standard of BTEC Level 5, HNC Electrical or equivalent.
  • Skills in the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) for electrical and basic mechanical design.
  • An understanding of fault finding and minor programming changes to PLC ladder logic.
  • Minimum of 10 years working in a similar manufacturing/chemical industry environment.
  • Experience of using a computerized Asset Management System.
  • Experience in managing small engineering projects.
  • Preferably experienced in working in high hazards environment with a working knowledge of DESEAR and ATEX requirements.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical, mechanical and pneumatic schematic drawings.
  • Experience and competence using the Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Planning, organizational and task prioritization skills with the ability to self-motivate and prioritise workload.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to develop and participate in strong collaborative working relationships.
  • Willingness to modify standard working hours to accommodate critical maintenance and projects.

Performance Evaluation: Performance will be monitored on an ongoing basis.

Legal and Regulatory: This position is expected to comply with all aspects of the Company’s Safety Management System as well as its ISO 9001 accredited Quality Management System and ISO 14001 accredited Environmental System.
