The Contracts Lawyer is responsible for taking a lead role in the review and development of contractual documentation. Accountable for ensuring that the needs of the business are upheld and that any commercial and legal liability is mitigated. The individual will also act as a focal point for coordinating with other functions in the business to mitigate the company’s financial exposure.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing support in discrete contractual or legal issues by advising the organization, drafting undertakings and structuring remedies.
- Day to day responsibilities include the provision of legal advice concerning the drafting and review of commercial contracts.
- Drafting, reviewing, and managing commercial contracts.
- Ensuring that contractual agreements are legally valid, enforceable, and in the best interest of the company.
- Liaising with other functions in the business (e.g. tax, treasury, finance) to ensure contracts are entered into in the most efficient manner, in order to mitigate risk.
- Supporting the resolution of conflicts or disputes related to contracts, either through negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
- Ongoing review of contracts to mitigate exposure to the Company, meet legal obligations, and identify areas for improvement.
- Conducting legal research and providing recommendations relevant to the service provision and jurisdiction.

Key Requirements
- Job Specific Education Required: Minimum of a bachelor's degree in law with post graduate degree preferred.
- Work Experience Required: Previous standalone experience in a fast-paced projects environment. Global industry or minimum of multinational experience in the provision of services, personnel and equipment. Energy industry sector experience preferred.
- Skills & Knowledge Required: Capable of working independently with the initiative to seek out subject matter experts; commercial or technical as necessary. Commercially astute and capable of providing succinct and pragmatic advice geared to the needs of the business. Excellent analytical, researching and drafting skills with strong attention to detail. Highly organized and quickly able to assimilate and respond to information to deadlines. Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with bias for action.
