Main Purpose of the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic part‑time teaching assistant to facilitate learning by supporting the needs of individual pupils, small groups, and the class as a whole.

Working under the direct instruction of teaching staff, you will provide general classroom support, assist with physical and general care, and help maintain our high standards of pupil achievement.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting and Extending Pupils’ Learning
• Personalise support across the curriculum for all pupils, including those with SEND.
• Implement education plans alongside individual behaviour and personal care programmes.
• Deploy learning strategies including modelling, scaffolding, prompting, and open‑ended questioning.
• Provide feedback to pupils to promote self‑esteem, independence, and high expectations.
• Contribute to assessments and assist pupils in reviewing their own progress.
• Remove learning barriers by adapting and customising curriculum materials.
• Manage resources to maintain a purposeful, orderly, and supportive classroom environment.
• Utilise ICT tools to promote learning in line with national strategies (e. g., English and Maths).
• Meeting Pupils’ Wider Wellbeing & Pastoral Needs
• Promote inclusion by establishing constructive, tailored relationships with all pupils.
• Manage behaviour positively in strict accordance with the school’s behaviour policy.
• Support mental health and emotional wellbeing for all children.
• Act as a champion and advocate for pupils with SEN and/or disabilities.
• Ensure safety by managing welfare, personal care, and the administration of medicines.
• Supporting the Wider Work of the School
• Handle administration tasks including filing, record‑keeping, and school trip organisation.
• Supervise pupils outside of lesson times, including arrivals, departures, and playtimes.
• Engage with parents and carers to discuss routine issues and share information.
• Maintain professionalism regarding dress code, punctuality, and attendance.
• Participate in training and the school’s performance management framework.

• Build relationships with school staff and external agency professionals.
• Collaborate closely with supporting adults, such as the SENDCo.
• Drive development by taking proactive responsibility for your own continuous professional learning.
