Crawley College, part of the Chichester College Group, is seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Officer (Electrical) to join our Estates & Facilities team. This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, motivated individual to play a key role in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-functioning environment for our students, staff, and visitors.
About The Role
- Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance across College buildings.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults in a safe and timely manner.
- Complete maintenance tasks allocated via the College helpdesk system.
- Support statutory compliance inspections relating to electrical systems and building services.
- Liaise with and supervise external contractors working on electrical installations and repairs.
- Assist the Estates team with emergency light testing, draindowns, and associated repairs.
- Ensure all works are carried out in line with current electrical regulations and safe working practices.
- Maintain accurate records of works completed, inspections, and compliance documentation.
- Support minor project works and campus improvements as required.
Working Schedule
Mon – Fri, 8:00 – 16:30 (Mon–Thu), 8:00 – 16:00 (Fri)
About You
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation or Electrical Maintenance.
- City & Guilds 18th Edition (BS 7671).
- You should be a proactive, reliable, and hands-on technician with strong fault-finding skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and a flexible approach to workload and priorities are essential.
- Experience within an educational or public sector environment would be an advantage but is not essential.
