Overview

In this role you lead the Housing Advice and Prevention service to prevent homelessness and improve housing outcomes.

You will drive performance, develop the team, and implement innovative, customer-centred approaches in line with housing legislation.

You’ll work with internal and external partners to deliver a homelessness prevention strategy at scale and influence service improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Housing Advice and Prevention team
  • Ensure statutory homelessness duties are delivered lawfully
  • Drive homelessness prevention initiatives and partnership working
  • Monitor service performance and drive continuous improvement
  • Manage budgets and resources effectively
  • Oversee complex housing cases and provide expert guidance
  • Develop policies, procedures and service standards
  • Collaborate with housing providers, support agencies, health services and voluntary sector partners
  • Prepare reports and present to senior management and elected members
  • Support strategic objectives for homelessness prevention and housing stability
  • Key requirements
  • Significant experience managing housing advice, homelessness prevention or housing options services
  • Excellent knowledge of homelessness legislation and housing law (including the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017)
  • Experience leading, motivating and developing high-performing teams
  • Strong case management and decision-making skills
  • Experience managing performance, quality standards and service improvement initiatives
  • Excellent communication and partnership-building skills
  • Experience working with vulnerable households and delivering customer-focused services
