Element Lab Solutions UK has an opportunity for a new Finance Team Leader to join our Strathaven team on a full-time basis. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth running of all financial operations including finance team and business support, month-end reporting, VAT and statutory compliance. Reporting to the UK & Ireland Lab Solutions Finance Manager.
The successful candidate will be hands-on, detail oriented, proficient in excel and SAGE, with strong accounting knowledge.
Responsibilities- Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers
- Lead finance team of 3 and support them to resolve day to day queries
- At busy times process invoices, payments, and receipts
- Authorise payment runs, track cash requirements and prepare cash flow forecasts
- Review credit control work of team and assess bad debt provision requirements
- Providing expenditure analysis vs. budget/forecast, highlighting variances and contributing to cost control
- Prepare financial analysis for internal stakeholders to aid decision making – eg IT spend, capex tracking, functional P&Ls, activity costing
- Support finance manager with annual budget and monthly forecasting process
- Manage accruals, prepayments, payroll and all other journal entries
- Manage and maintain the fixed asset register, including tracking acquisitions, disposals, and calculating and posting monthly depreciation
- Manage and process all intercompany recharges and reconciliations
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare monthly payroll reconciliation
- Prepare monthly management accounts with commentary and analysis
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to senior management
- Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements
- Prepare postponement VAT reconciliations and postings
- Upload pension information and update pension/medical for new starts
- Support finance manager with subsidiary stats audit and tax pack information
- Respond to audit and tax requests and ensure compliance with internal controls
- Proven experience in a similar finance role
- Part-qualified ACCA or CIMA
- Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards and VAT regulations
- Proficiency in SAGE accounting software desirable
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment and being adaptable to meet deadlines
- Strong Excel skills essential
