We are looking for a Slicer Operative / Line Leader to join our Production Slicing team. You will play a key role in delivering daily production targets while ensuring high standards of food safety, quality, and health & safety are maintained at all times. This is a hands‑on role working within a fast‑paced food production environment, supporting the smooth running of the slicing line.

Responsibilities

  • Set up the production line from 6:30am and ensure it is ready for operation
  • Operate and monitor slicing machinery to maximise efficiency and yield
  • Ensure all products meet required quality, safety, and temperature standards
  • Work towards production targets and report any issues or shortfalls
  • Maintain product giveaway below 1%
  • Carry out safety checks on machinery before start‑up
  • Keep work areas clean and compliant with hygiene standards
  • Ensure materials (e.g. webs) are stocked and correctly recorded
  • Report equipment faults promptly
  • Support Line Leaders and Supervisors with daily operations
  • Assist with training and mentoring new team members

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a food production or manufacturing environment (preferred)
  • Butchery or slicing skills are preferred but not essential - we are particularly interested in candidates who are confident and skilled with knives
  • Understanding of health & safety and food hygiene standards
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and meet targets
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities
  • Level 2 Health & Safety awareness (desirable)
  • Understanding of risk assessments and safe working practices
  • Awareness of hazard identification and near‑miss reporting
