Hours: 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday

Headed by Italian‑born food expert Vaz Frigerio our sourcing team scours the continent and further afield in search of great food and great food producers. Over the years, our culinary adventures have allowed us to build partnerships with specialist producers; from Emilia‑Romagna’s finest meat curers to Andalucia’s most sustainable olive growers. From our state of the art site in Bury we bring together these wonderful continental foods and pack them in an efficient, sustainable and relevant format for the UK consumer to enjoy.

Main Purpose of the Role

  • To drive profitable sales growth through strategic category planning & innovation, insight and consumer understanding
  • To improve communication across the wider business to celebrate success and inform

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly market updates on key categories to inform the wider business on performance using Kantar and other data/insight sources
  • To manage the Brandbank image library
  • To maintain category boards
  • To track and communicate changes and trends in foodservice and restaurant menus
  • To complete audits as required to feed into category projects including seasonal reviews
  • To support the wider marketing team to deliver growth through category management
  • To talk with authority about the markets we operate in – size, dynamics, consumer & behaviour
  • To evolve our understanding of the consumer through qualitative & quantitative research
  • Monitor and track performance (Panel and EPOS data sources)
  • Identify opportunities for growth through data & insight driven category strategies
  • Work closely with NPD to develop market leading, consumer driven innovation
  • Develop profitable promotional strategies
  • Complete post implementation reviews on innovation, range changes and seasonal periods
  • Recommend tactical quick wins to the sales team (ranging / promotions etc)
  • Present category opportunities in a compelling way
  • To update Flavor! with relevant news stories about continental
  • To support the wider commercial team on ad hoc projects, customer visits, supplier visits and product panels
  • To support Artwork and Packaging Co‑ordinator, with circulating files for approval with wider team, feeding back comments and actions to retailer artwork portals
  • Complete retailer visits to gather information on new product launches, take photographs and purchase product samples

Experience

  • Proven experience or internship in a marketing environment is preferred but not essential
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office tools
  • Familiarity with IT systems relevant to marketing functions
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • A driven individual who takes ownership of projects
  • Someone who likes to work as part of a team to deliver results collaboratively
  • A candidate with a forward‑looking approach wanting to identify new ways of doing things to improve performance
  • Graduate level education with a passion for food
  • Ideally with experience of working in a fast‑paced environment
