Monday-Friday, 08:00-17:00, based on site Cranswick Country Foods, Staithes Road, Preston, Hull, HU12 8TB. We’re looking for a driven, people‑focused HR Advisor to join our vibrant team at our Preston site — the largest and most dynamic manufacturing operation in the Cranswick group. In this permanent role, you’ll become a key part of our People function, providing confident, front‑line HR support to managers, shaping best practice, and helping bring our people strategy to life.
Who Are Cranswick: Cranswick is one of the UK’s leading food producers, supplying premium products to major retailers and food service customers across the country. With well‑invested sites nationwide, our purpose is simple: to feed the nation with authentic, sustainably produced food. This role sits at our Preston site, the largest in the Cranswick group, which is currently benefiting from significant investment — including state‑of‑the‑art offices, upgraded colleague facilities, and expanded manufacturing capability. It’s an exciting time to join a site that’s growing, modernising, and setting new standards for the industry.
What You’ll Be Doing: As our HR Advisor, you’ll play a hands‑on role in supporting our people and shaping a positive, high‑performing culture across the site. You’ll get involved in a variety of responsibilities, including:
- Supporting Managers: Provide day‑to‑day guidance on key matters such as disciplinary issues, grievances, absence management.
- Coaching & Confidence‑Building: Work closely with line managers to help them navigate policies, procedures & contractual queries.
- Driving Engagement: Support the development & delivery of our Site Engagement Strategy.
- Leading Key Initiatives: Take ownership of important HR projects including wellbeing, ethical compliance & colleague experience.
- Championing Continuous Improvement: Spot opportunities to streamline processes, add value and strengthen how HR supports the wider business.
- Enhancing Systems & Processes: Maintain and improve HR systems to ensure smooth, efficient operations and reduce non‑value‑adding admin.
- Supporting Audits: Play a key role in internal and external ethical audits, ensuring high standards across the site.
- Tracking People Metrics: Report, analyse and interpret our weekly and monthly KPIs — including absence, turnover, retention and headcount — to inform decision‑making.
What We’re Looking For: We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about people and ready to make their mark. You’ll thrive here if you enjoy being hands‑on, staying organised in a fast‑paced environment, and building great relationships across the business. Ideally, you’ll bring:
- CIPD Level 3 (essential) – you’ve built a solid foundation in HR and you’re excited to put it into practice.
- Experience working in a busy HR environment – you’re comfortable juggling priorities and supporting a wide range of people needs.
- FMCG experience (desirable) – not essential, but it’s a bonus if you’re familiar with fast‑moving, operational settings.
- Strong communication and organisational skills – you’re approachable, reliable and confident working with colleagues at all levels.
- A calm, steady approach under pressure – even when things get busy, you keep a cool head and a positive attitude.
Why Join Us: Development with a growing and continually investing business. Genuine opportunities to progress, learn and shape your HR career with access to personal development and pathways to support your growth. Access to our discounted share scheme, giving you the chance to invest in the business you’re helping to build. A generous company pension – with employer contributions of up to 10%. A range of lifestyle benefits, including a retail discount app, bike‑to‑work scheme, and access to our wellbeing platform.
