Cranswick Gourmet Sausage Co. (Lazenby’s) is our fast-paced sausage facility located in Hull. Using only the best cuts of British pork, fresh herbs, and spices, Cranswick is the UK’s leading producer of gourmet sausages, supplying major retailers and foodservice outlets alike. The size of our business enables us to support career development and progression, which will help our people fulfil their potential.
The ideal candidate for a Filler Operative would be flexible, enthusiastic and have excellent attention to detail. Their main responsibility would be to ensure the product being filled out is in line with specification.
Hours: 18:00 - 06:00, 4 nights on 4 off
Pay rate: £14.59 per hour
Main Duties include (but not limited to):
- Ensuring the product being filled out is in line with the specification
- Responsible for the quality of the product (no open ends, correct size, weight and dimension)
- Setting up the filler machine, selecting the right nozzles, brakes and skins as required
- The smooth running of the filler machine, including stripping and cleaning as necessary to meet hourly demands
- Ensuring the correct storage of filler parts and associated equipment
- Ensuring traceability is maintained by selecting the correct meat for the product being produced
- Minimising waste through careful consumption of natural collagen casings
- Regular monitoring of unit weight to control giveaways
- Observing Good Manufacturing Practises at all times, following a ‘clean as you go’ policy
- Escalating all issues and concerns immediately
- Ensuring a safe working environment for self and others
Requirements, experience for a Machine Operative:
- Worked within a fast-paced chilled food manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of the production lines
- Ability to read and understand product specification and QAS
- Strong attention to detail
