Job Purpose:
To support the delivery of Pet Food projects from concept to launch, ensuring the nutritional excellence
and quality of our pet food offerings whilst satisfying all relevant Technical, Financial and Operational
criteria, leading to a timely and successful launch, supported by relevant site functions.
This will involve working closely with all departments and engaging multi-site teams.
Main Duties:
· Assist in the creation and maintenance of customer product specifications, labels and additional
supporting information including but not limited to claim substantiation documents
· Support other teams within the business in responding to customer enquirers where required.
· Attend meetings, seminars and training sessions with trade associations and other relevant
organisations if required
· Assist in the creation and maintenance of marketing materials including but not limited to
presentations, brochures, websites and adverts
· Where required attend meetings, presenting relevant nutritional information and advice to support
other teams within the business and customers
· Attend factory trials to support site teams and advise on finished product suitability
Formulation and Development:
· Assist in the creation and maintenance of the formulation software including but not limited to new
ingredients, formulas and pricing.
· Formulation and development of pet food products, considering nutritional requirements,
ingredient sourcing, pricing and quality standards
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Production, Marketing and Technical to bring new
products to market
Nutritional Analysis:
· Conduct nutritional analysis to ensure our pet food meets industry standards and regulatory
requirements
· Stay abreast of the latest developments in pet nutrition to continuously enhance the nutritional
profile of our products
Quality Assurance:
· Assist the Technical team with nutritional information and analysis of results where required to
support quality control and product safety
Research and Innovation:
· Stay informed about industry trends, new ingredients, and advancements in pet food nutrition with
the use of Webinars, training sessions and supplier information
· Contribute to ongoing research projects to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge in the market
· Collaborate with other teams within the business including the Technical team to ensure the relevant people are up to date with technical and regulatory matters.
Exports
· Work closely with other departments to ensure export is booked with external vet and documentation required is collated prior to vet visit
· Sign export documentation where required
· Create documentation for new country set up or changes to products where required
· Keep up to date with document and legislation changes related to exports
Requirements, Experience and Person Specification:
· Pet Food manufacturing experience
· Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Animal Science, Nutrition or a related field
· Knowledge of pet food formulation, ingredients and processing techniques
· Strong understanding of nutritional requirements for various pet species
· Experience working with regulatory standards and ensuring compliance
· Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
· Attention to detail and strong organisational skills
· Proactive and flexible in working approach
· Creative approach to product development and innovation with the ability to problem solve within
the scope of the role
· PC competent in office suite and experience with formulation software
· Full driving license
