Cranswick Pet Products is growing, and we’re looking for a Packaging Materials Controller to join our Procurement team. This is a great opportunity for someone with packaging planning, stock control, or supply chain experience to step into a fast-paced FMCG environment and build their career.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain packaging material requirement plans across all sites.
- Ensure appropriate stock levels are held to meet production demand while minimising excess and obsolescence.
- Monitor and manage slow-moving and obsolete packaging stock.
- Maintain accurate ERP/MRP data (lead times, MOQ, safety stock levels).
- Support coordination of packaging supply across multiple manufacturing locations.
- Balance stock between sites to optimise working capital and reduce risk.
- Support standardisation of packaging materials and processes where possible.
- Liaise with suppliers of packaging materials, ensuring performance against agreed KPIs (OTIF, quality, cost), escalating when necessary.
- Support Procurement with supplier onboarding and provide relevant information where required.
- Monitor supplier lead times and ensure continuity of supply.
- Support supplier audits and compliance requirements.
- Support with cost-saving opportunities through packaging optimisation, standardisation, or volume leveraging across sites.
- Produce analysis on spend and usage trends to support decision making.
Requirements, Experience and Person Specification
- Experience in supply chain, materials planning, or packaging control within FMCG or food manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across different sites.
- Packaging procurement or category management experience.
- Knowledge of food safety / packaging compliance standards.
- Resilient and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Occasional travel between sites & to external suppliers (UK & Overseas).
- Flexibility to respond to supply issues outside standard hours when required.
