Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant, this role will be responsible for the integrity of the commercial accounting activities of the business. The Assistant Commercial Accountant will produce timely and accurate management accounting information for the business and auditors in a professional format.

Responsibilities:
- Assist with accounts: supporting the preparation of weekly trading figures, weekly and monthly stock valuations, responding to audit requests, carrying out monthly variance analysis, collaborating on forecasts and budgets.
- Support commercial: maintaining weekly and monthly standard cost modelling and variance analysis, preparing commercial scenario analysis, supporting open‑book pricing models with key retailers, maintaining the standard costing system, strengthening margin reports, providing financial analysis for new business opportunities and cost reduction initiatives.
- Business partnering: day‑to‑day partnering with commercial and operational management, assisting with PIP project appraisals, providing financial and accounting training to non‑financial colleagues, preparing daily and weekly sales figures, providing ad/hoc support to the Financial Controller and Senior Management Accountant.
Qualifications:
- Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communicator and natural ability to build working relationships.
- Understanding the importance of producing data accurately and timely.
- Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Ability to prioritise own workload.
- Willingness to undertake professional training.
- 2:1 degree in a related subject area desirable; AAT Level 4 considered.
- Strong desire to continue professional studies.
