Electrical Enginee r (Nights)

4on 4off shift pattern, working 18:00-06:00

Cranswick is a leading UK food producer with revenue of over £2 Billion. We produce and supply premium food to high profile UK grocery retailers, the food service sector and other UK and global customers.

An exciting new opportunity has arisen within the engineering team at our Preston site near Hull. The successful candidate will become an integral part of the engineering team and will be responsible for maintaining the plant and equipment to ensure maximum efficiency’s throughout while operating within food hygiene and health and safety regulations.

Our site engineering team is passionate about delivering the best quality products, efficiently, safely and sustainably. To achieve this, we are constantly developing our team with on-going personal development training in place to upskill individuals to support our ever-growing site. With recent and upcoming industry leading innovation projects throughout the site we are implementing new methods to support our maintenance strategy.

This is to work within the site\’s Butchery Department.

Applicants from all Engineering backgrounds are welcome and encouraged.

M ain duties include (but not limited to):

  • Maintain plant and equipment in the relevant area to optimum standards, safely with minimum downtime
  • Reporting directly to engineering management and supervisor team
  • Carry out a range of preventative maintenance tasks, including general PPMs and intrusive service schedules
  • Work to site food safety and H&S standards at all times
  • Reactive maintenance in breakdown situations, to include fault finding and root cause analysis to prevent further breakdowns
  • To be trained to meet site standards and further development on specific machines/areas
  • Engage in continuous improvement tasks
  • Maintain plant and equipment to optimum standards safely with minimum downtime
  • Liaise with all levels of management across all functions relating to engineering activities on the plan or breakdowns
  • Ensure the efficient usage of spare parts, consumables and equipment
  • Any administrative duties as required in the fulfillment of the engineering plan
  • To decrease time lost due to breakdowns
  • Satisfactory completion of the engineering plan, designated areas and equipment
  • Ensure that the boilers are serviced and running
  • Working with ammonia and the ability to reset the system
  • Make sure the air compressors are serviced, filtered and cleaned
  • Work effectively in the mucosa
  • Ability to strip, clean, put together the pumps and valves in the affluent house
  • Clean pumps and basic pipe welding of the tray and dolav wash
  • Ensure that you have the relevant Legal compliance training completed (in liaison with the Health & Safety, Technical and the Training departments)
  • Understand the importance of ensuring that all statutory (industry guidelines), legal, food safety and integrity and hygiene standards and customer requirements are met and adhered to
  • Understand how to trace faults (route cause analysis)
  • Understand the importance of maintenance and performance validation
  • Be fully trained in the Manufacturer’s maintenance recommendations, lubrication requirements and critical locations on the equipment
