Cranstoun is a social justice and harm reduction charity with a global ambition. Our purpose is to inspire and empower people to live healthier and safer lives. We are looking for a compassionate, motivated and proactive Outreach and Engagement Worker to join our Dudley children and young people’s team.

This is an exciting opportunity to support children and young people aged 11–18 (up to 25 for those with SEND) by improving access to early, targeted and structured substance use and wider wellbeing support from within ROUTES youth advice hub and across the Dudley borough.

The role involves:

  • Building trusted relationships with young people
  • Creating reachable moments via outreach and community-based support in a range of settings including youth spaces, schools and partner venues
  • Helping young people access the right support at the right time
  • Working closely with partner agencies to promote wellbeing, reduce risk and improve outcomes for children, young people and families

We are looking for someone with experience of working with children, young people or vulnerable groups in support, youth work, education, prevention or community settings. You will need strong engagement and communication skills, a compassionate and non-judgemental approach, and a good understanding of safeguarding, risk and multi-agency working. Experience of outreach, community engagement or substance use support would be an advantage.

This role requires flexibility to meet service need, including working 11am–7.15pm Tuesday to Friday and 10am–4pm on Saturdays. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people is central to this role. The successful candidate will be expected to work in line with Cranstoun’s safeguarding policies and procedures. All posts are subject to an enhanced DBS Disclosure.
