The R&D Manager is responsible for the planning, delivery, and oversight of our client's Research and Development activities. The role provides scientific, technical, and people leadership to Project Teams and Technology R&D Teams, ensuring R&D programs are delivered efficiently, on time, and in compliance with our client's quality systems and regulatory requirements.
The R&D Manager leads R&D staff, oversees laboratory operations and resources, and drives continuous improvement across R&D processes. They will act as Program Lead for Molecule Projects and/or Technology R&D Programs and will play a key role in the continued growth and development of our client's R&D function.
- Report directly to the COO and provide regular updates on R&D performance and project status
- Plan, prioritise, and deliver R&D projects and programs in line with business objectives
- Provide scientific and technical oversight of experimental design, data quality, interpretation, and reporting
- Identify and remove technical and operational bottlenecks while proactively managing project risks
- Ensure all R&D activities comply with ISO 9001 and other applicable quality and regulatory standards
- Contribute to and implement best practices to improve quality, efficiency, and effectiveness across the R&D function
- Foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and professional development within the R&D team
Qualifications:
- PhD in Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline, or an MSc with significant relevant industry experience
- Experience working within the biotechnology industry
- Demonstrated success leading R&D projects and managing scientific teams
- Strong problem-solving, data analysis, and decision-making capabilities
- Experience with biologics and/or polymer development
