We are delighted to be partnering exclusively with an established manufacturing business based near Helmsley, York. As the organisation continues to invest in safety and operational excellence, they are now looking to appoint an additional SHE Advisor to support ongoing improvements across site safety and environmental performance. This is a fully on-site role offering strong visibility across operations and the opportunity to contribute directly to a proactive, values-driven SHE culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the QHSE Manager and existing SHE Advisor in implementing and maintaining high standards across health, safety, and environmental practices.
- Split time effectively between office-based work and hands-on site presence across the yard, production areas, fleet operations, and contractor activities.
- Develop and maintain risk assessments and safe systems of work in line with evolving operational needs.
- Assist with contractor management, including permits to work, safe isolation procedures, and CDM compliance.
- Carry out audits, inspections, and SHE observations, identifying improvement opportunities and ensuring compliance with internal policies and legal standards.
- Support environmental compliance including waste management, emissions control, and energy usage monitoring.
- Monitor workplace transport activities including HGVs, FLTs, and telehandlers, ensuring safe practices.
- Deliver toolbox talks and staff safety briefings to reinforce safety culture.
- Support incident investigations and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of utilities safety, site services, and operational controls.
About You
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent Level 3 qualification) β essential.
- Demonstrable experience in a similar SHE role, ideally within manufacturing, logistics, or heavy industry.
- Confident in overseeing contractor safety, permits to work, and site-based risk control.
- Strong working knowledge of relevant regulations such as LOLER, PUWER, CDM, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Practical, adaptable and capable of engaging with teams on the ground to drive positive change.
- A collaborative, proactive approach with excellent communication skills.
