A growing engineering business delivering process solutions into the dairy, food & beverage industries is looking to appoint a junior to mid-level Process Design Engineer to support the development of process systems and technical solutions across a range of customer projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a Chemical or Process Engineering graduate with some industry design experience looking to develop their career within process design, working closely with experienced engineers across the full project lifecycle.

Salary: £30,000 - £38,000

Location: Somerset

Office-Based + UK Travel (25%)

Responsibilities:

  • Develop process flow diagrams and P&IDs using AutoCAD / Autodesk software
  • Support the creation of process descriptions and technical documentation
  • Assist with specifications for process equipment including pumps, valves, heat exchangers and piping systems
  • Work closely with customers and internal engineering teams to help define process requirements
  • Support technical proposals and quotation activities
  • Participate in design reviews and technical discussions with customers
  • Support HAZOP, HACCP and design risk assessments
  • Collaborate with mechanical design, automation and project delivery teams
  • Gain exposure across the full project lifecycle including commissioning and customer site activities

Requirements:

  • Degree, HNC or HND in Chemical or Process Engineering
  • 1–3 years’ industry experience within process engineering, process design or a related engineering environment
  • Experience developing or working with P&IDs and process flow diagrams
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or Autodesk Plant software
  • Understanding of process equipment and fluid/process systems
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Motivated to develop within a customer-focused engineering environment

Additional Information:

  • Office-based role with regular UK travel to customer sites
  • Food, dairy or beverage industry experience would be beneficial, though candidates from broader process industries will also be considered
  • Opportunity to work closely with experienced engineers across design, installation and commissioning activities
