Overview:
We are delighted to be working exclusively on behalf of a well-established organisation operating across complex, large-scale engineering environments. As they continue to embed excellence in health, safety, environment and quality, they are seeking a committed SHEQ Advisor to support operational delivery and continuous improvement from their Fareham office.
You will be based in Fareham and be expected to travel UK-wide a few times a month (on average). This is an excellent opportunity for a SHEQ professional who thrives in a dynamic, multi-stakeholder setting and is passionate about driving high standards across diverse projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote and implement SHEQ policies, programmes, and systems throughout project lifecycles, ensuring alignment with both internal frameworks and industry best practice.
- Support project teams and staff departments with SHEQ-related matters, including training delivery, coaching, and familiarisation with procedures and standards.
- Provide SHEQ deliverables such as:
- Input into tender documentation and submissions.
- Practical support for embedding health, safety, and quality initiatives on projects.
- Incident investigation, analysis, trend reporting and learning dissemination.
- Maintain the legal register and ensure legislative compliance is reflected in the SHEQ management system.
- Compile SHEQ statistics for regular internal reporting and contribute to management reviews.
- Act as a professional and credible representative in all SHEQ matters with clients, partners, and subcontractors.
- Lead and support SHEQ audits including internal, client and subcontractor assessments.
- Monitor and assess SHEQ processes to drive continuous improvement and ensure active engagement from relevant stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of SHEQ policies by translating them into clear business processes.
- Act as a visible and values-led ambassador for SHEQ across the business.
Candidate Profile:
Essential:
- 1–3 years’ experience in a SHEQ-related role, ideally within construction, engineering, or similarly regulated project environments.
- Understanding of continuous improvement methodologies and how they apply within SHEQ systems.
- Awareness of operational activities and relevant equipment in high-risk environments.
Desirable:
- NVQ Level 5 Diploma or BSc in a relevant engineering or technical discipline.
- NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate.
- Auditor or Lead Auditor qualifications (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
- Experience contributing to tenders and pre-construction SHE-Q planning.
